Mohammed Shami was fit and raring to go at the practice session ahead of his international return for the first time since November 2023. Shami, who has been recalled to the Indian setup, was bowling with full intensity and at full tilt ahead of the first T20I against England at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Not only does it mark Shami’s comeback, but the series also serves as practice for the 34-year-old before he moves into the longer white-ball format ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Since recovering from injury, Shami was seen bowling in full tilt for Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and, later, the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The right-arm speedster picked up 11 wickets in SMAT, averaging 25.36, and was their second-best bowler after Karan Lal in the competition.
The 34-year-old bowled 26 overs in the Vijay Hazare tournament with five wickets before being called up to the Indian side.
