India pacer Mohammed Shami picked up the wicket of Brydon Carse in the first One-Day International (ODI) in Nagpur to pick up his first wicket in the format in 445 days. His last wicket before this was of David Warner at the World Cup final in 2023.
Shami, who is playing his first ODI since that day, returned to international wicket in the T20I series against England ahead of the ODIs after he proved his fitness in the domestic circuit. He picked up three wickets in the final T20I of the series in Mumbai.
On February 6 (Thursday), Shami cleaned up Carse, who heaved across the line. He missed the ball completely, and it crashed into his stumps. Shami is now five wickets away from becoming the eighth Indian bowler to pick up 200 ODI wickets.
The 34-year-old has 195 wickets in the format, including five five-wicket hauls.
