The last 48 hours have been quite a roller coaster ride for Shivam Dube. After his stellar 53 in Pune with the bat, the all-rounder was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Dube, who was hit on the head, was replaced by Harshit Rana via the ‘concussion substitute’ rule, irking the English players and the fans.
In the aftermath of that incident, plenty of opinions have flown to and fro across the camps, as England skipper Jos Buttler mocked the Indian team at the toss, calling the benched players as ‘impact options’. But it was Dube who had the last laugh in the fifth T20 on February 2 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Dube first smoked a 13-ball 30 in the first innings, smashing at 230.76 before taking the ball with great effect. It took the Mumbai all-rounder just one ball before making his impact on the game, with a slower ball accounting for the on-song Phil Salt, who was batting on 55 off 23 balls.

An over later, the CSK all-rounder returned to remove Jacob Bethell, his second wicket in two overs, silencing the critics and the England fans, who said, ‘Dube isn’t a strike bowler’.
