Rashid Khan has overtaken Dwayne Bravo to become the leading wicket-taker in T20s. Rashid now has 633 wickets in T20 cricket after he finished with 2/33 in Qualifier 1 of the SA20 2025 against Paarl Royals in Gqeberha on February 4 (Wednesday). He got rid of Dunith Wellalage to set the record.
He is the leading wicket-taker for MI Cape Town (MICT) in the tournament with 11 wickets (Econ 7.27) this season, which has played a huge role in his team booking their place in the final.
The Afghanistan leg-spinner's record is highly impressive. His 633 wickets have come in just 461 matches at an average of 18.07 and an economy rate of 6.49. Moreover, he has struck once every 16.6 deliveries, which very few have bettered. Bravo, who ended his career with 631 wickets, was the highest wicket-taker in the shortest format since 2016.
Rashid has played for 17 teams in his career so far, across all the major T20 leagues in the world, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and is currently with the Gujarat Titans (GT).
The 26-year-old, who is also Afghanistan's T20 International (T20I) skipper, is the second-highest wicket-taker at that level with 161 scalps, just three behind Tim Southee.
