Rashid Khan was left embarrassed after his stylish no-look shot was caught brilliantly by Yashasvi Jaiswal at the square leg in the game between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 9 (Tuesday).
Rashid, who had scored 12 off four, hitting a six and a four in his first three balls until then, was looking to get another boundary on the last ball of the penultimate over. However, Tushar Deshpande bowled a back of a length slower one outside off at 114kmph, and, Rashid walked across the line to play a swipe pull on the leg side.
He got behind the line and executed the shot very nicely, not even looking at where the ball was going, assuming that it would reach the boundary with ease. But Jaiswal, who was stationed at square leg, put in a huge dive on his right and hung on to the catch to end the blitz from Rashid.
After Rashid was dismissed, 16 runs came in the last over bowled by Sandeep Sharma as GT ended with a huge total of 217/6 on the board. Earlier, Sai Sudharsan played a spectacular innings of 82 in 53 deliveries to help GT to this total. Jos Buttler and Shahrukh Khan also ably supported him, scoring 36 each off 25 and 20 deliveries respectively.
