Follow UsIn an advertisement for Goibibo, Indian batter Rishabh Pant recreated Sunil Gavaskar’s iconic commentary ‘Stupid, Stupid, Stupid’ on March 18 (Tuesday). The video, which did the rounds on social media, has Pant seated in a commentary box, with a headphone, in a similar set-up to that of Gavaskar.
Gavaskar made these comments during the fourth Test of the 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Melbourne when the left-handed batter got out trying to reverse scoop Scott Boland. The shot came just a few minutes after he had missed a reverse scoop, triggering Gavaskar.
“Stupid, stupid, stupid!” was Gavaskar’s reaction during his radio stint on ABC Sport.
“You’ve got two fielders there, and you still go for that. You missed the previous shot, and look where you’ve been caught. That is throwing away your wicket. You cannot say that is your natural game. I’m sorry. That is not your natural game. This is a stupid shot. This is letting your team down badly. You have to understand the situation as well,” the iconic cricketer added back then.
Pant will be captaining LSG in IPL 2025, with their first clash against DC on March 24 (Monday).
