The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) recently shared a video on their social media platforms in which Indian skipper and T20 World Cup winner Rohit Sharma is seen advising young batter Abdul Samad on how to approach his game in the shortest format.
Rohit, who finally returned to form in the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with back-to-back scores of 76* and 70, first seemed to explain some technique for combating the bowling in different conditions.
“Hit it either off this leg, or off that leg. You know why I’m saying this, it’s because every wicket has a pace,” Rohit said in the video.
“It’s different everyday, today the humidity is more so there will be moisture, if it’s less humid and more windy then the pitch is better to bat on. You won’t get that knowledge until the match starts.”
The fiery opener then also told Samad how he needs to be original and keep working on his own technique for success, rather than copying other batters as that process is unnatural and might end up spoiling his game.
“Whatever ability you have, whatever talent, whatever technique, some things don’t work without technique, let’s accept that,” said Rohit.
“Tu mere jaisa nahin khel sakta, mein tere jaisa nahin khel sakta. Tera apna ek talent hai (You can’t play like me, I can’t play like you, you have your own talent)."
"If I go to copy you or you try to copy me, or if I go to copy his technique or his technique, life will pass by in that time. Most important is what is up here [in his head]. It depends on how you can use what’s up there,” he added.
Mumbai Indians will clash against the Super Giants on April 27.
