India skipper Rohit Sharma has linked up with his state side, Mumbai, in their preparatory camp ahead of the Ranji Trophy 2024/25 fixture against Jammu and Kashmir on January 14. The right-hander was seen practising with the rest of the Mumbai setup at the Wankhede Stadium.
Rohit’s move comes from a terrible Border-Gavaskar 2024/25, where he could only score 31 runs across three Tests. Furthermore, the Indian captain had sidelined himself for the Sydney Test owing to ‘poor form’.
In the aftermath, India’s coach, Gautam Gambhir, sternly warned that players should not avoid red-ball games in domestic cricket. While the squad is yet to be announced, there’s a strong chance that Rohit could be part of Mumbai’s setup for the next-round fixture against J&K.
In the video posted by Star Sports, Rohit is seen closely having a chat with Mumbai’s head coach, Omkar Salvi, which could mean that the Indian skipper could play at least one Ranji Trophy fixture.
