14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history in IPL 2025 by smashing the fastest ever century by an Indian in the competition, but he might not even be the best teenager in the Rajasthan Royals’ set-up. Sounds crazy?
Well, last week, RR roped in South Africa’s teenage prodigy Lhuan-dre Pretorius as replacement for the injured Nitish Rana. Pretorius was an unknown entity at the time of the IPL 2025 auction but he made heads turn in the 2025 edition of the SA20, where he was not just the highest run-getter in the competition with 397 runs, but also struck at 166.80, brutally taking down bowling attacks.
The 19-year-old had his first hit with the Royals yesterday, and he could be seen absolutely plundering everything that came his way - both spin and pace. And in a video posted by the official RR account, skipper Sanju Samson could be seen cheering for young Pretorius’ hits, absolutely blown away by the 19-year-old’s power and range.
Samson, in the video, could be heard saying ‘Shot, buddy’ at least half a dozen times, with the RR skipper absolutely awestruck by the teenage prodigy’s remarkable hitting ability.
Could we see a potential debut for Pretorius when IPL 2025 resumes?
