Phil Salt had an astonishing campaign with the bat in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), hammering 435 runs at a strike rate of 182, but one team he was unable to get hold of was Mumbai Indians. Salt batted twice against MI in IPL 2024 and registered scores of 6 & 5, getting out in the first over on both occasions.
The England opener, now playing for RCB, thus entered the clash against MI today with a point to prove, and he made the perfect start, cracking Trent Boult through the covers on the very first ball of the match for a four.
For a brief moment, it looked like Salt was in the zone. However, that turned out to be a false alarm. On the very next ball, Boult hit back in some style, DESTROYING the right-hander’s stumps through a vicious, trademark inswinger. Salt looked to hoick the ball across the line and paid the price, as he missed it completely.
Thanks to the timber rattling, Salt’s scores against MI now read 6, 5 & 4.
