It was one of the most bizarre dismissals in T20 cricket as Zimbabwe’s Wessly Madhevere was out hit-wicket, having faced eight deliveries prior to the dismissal and batting on just 1.
The incident took place in the second over of Zimbabwe's innings in the first match of the T20I Tri-Series between the hosts Zimbabwe and South Africa on July 14 (Sunday) at the Harare Sports Club in Harare.
Madhevere was not looking in good touch, having played eight dot balls and, as a result, when he was looking to pull the ball, got too much behind and ended up not hitting the wicket with his willow, but rather with his feet, almost falling on to the stumps.
In the match too, Zimbabwe fell on their feet, being able to get as far as 141/6 courtesy of a captain’s knock from Sikandar Raza (54 off 38 balls). But it was never going to be enough as the Proteas chased the total down in 15.5 overs with five wickets in hand.
