Watson, who has won the IPL title with CSK and Rajasthan Royals, has been recommended by former Australia teammate Ricky Ponting who is the head coach of Capitals. Former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar is set to be the another assistant coach.
Mohammad Kaif and Ajay Ratra are likely to make way for Watson and Agarkar after the franchise decided not to renew their contracts for the upcoming IPL 2022. Long-serving staff member Praveen Amre and bowling coach James Hopes are set to continue in their roles in the team.
