We are waiting for fitness update on Ruturaj and Deepak: CSK CEO Kashi Vishwanathan
The duo suffered injuries during the T20I series against Sri Lanka and West Indies at home and are undergoing rehab at the NCA
The defending champions of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings are awaiting the fitness updates of two of their key members of the squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar, who were part of the Indian squad for the white-ball series against Sri Lanka, sustained injuries and are currently under rehab at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
While the right-handed batter had a wrist injury, Chahar suffered a hamstring tear in the last T20I against Sri Lanka, which will require him to stay out of action for a minimum of six to eight weeks. As a result, Chahar is likely to miss the first phase of IPL, if not the entire tournament.
The CEO of the CSK side, Kashi Vishwanathan, stated that the team is waiting to get updates from the BCCI for their two premier players. "We are not aware of their current fitness status and won't be able to tell you when they would join the squad," he said.
"Obviously, the BCCI has told us that once they are match-fit, they would intimate us. They are at the NCA currently," he further added.
After undergoing the rehabilitation process set by the physios and the trainers, the injured members will have to undergo various fitness tests and get a clearance certificate before joining their teams in the IPL.
Currently, CSK have their pre-season camp at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat and will start their campaign against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the inaugural match of this season at the Wankhede Stadium.
