Just one Test after getting appointed as vice-captain, Jomel Warrican has been dropped from the West Indies starting XI, with the Windies opting to field an all-pace attack for the second Test against Australia in Grenada.
Warrican was appointed deputy to Roston Chase in May, and the move received mixed responses due to the 33-year-old not being an automatic starter. Now, he’s been axed from the team after just one game as vice-captain following a ghost showing in the first Test in Barbados where he scored just 3 runs and bowled a total of eight overs, taking no wickets.
Warrican has been replaced in the XI by pace bowler Anderson Phillip. That’s the only change in the Windies XI from the defeat in Barbados. Australia have also made one change, with Steve Smith taking the place of Josh Inglis.
Australia have won the toss and have opted to bat first in Grenada.
