After suffering a major disappointment when the West Indies Women failed to qualify for the Women’s ODI World Cup for the first time since 2000, the team is now headed for a tour of England in an attempt to get their fans up and about.
The 15-member squad for the England tour was announced on May 13 (Tuesday) and, as expected, Hayley Matthews will lead them while Shemaine Campbelle will be her deputy.
The tour, encompassing three T20Is and an equal number of ODIs, will kick off with the first T20I on May 21 at the Spitfire Ground in Canterbury. The bandwagon will then move to Hove for the second T20I and the shortest-format series will end in Chelmsford on May 26.
The ODIs will begin on May 30 with the first game in Derby, followed by two games in Leicester and Taunton.
Chenille Henry and Rashada Williams have been shown the door in favour of Realeanna Grimmond and Jahzara Claxton as the two changes in the Windies Women's squad from the one that played in the World Cup qualifiers in Pakistan in April this year.
The tour includes three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals.
