West Indies Women to tour Sri Lanka for ODI, T20I series in June

The last time these two sides met in a bilateral series was in 2017

Fresh from qualifying for the Women's T20 World Cup 2024, Sri Lanka will host West Indies for three Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) and as many One-Day Internationals (ODI) in June. All the matches will be played from June 15 to 28.

As things stand, these will be West Indies' final fixtures before they take part in the Women's T20 World Cup in Bangladesh, starting October 3. West Indies go into the series against Sri Lanka on the back of T20I and ODI series wins over Pakistan during their month-long trip in the subcontinent.

Aside from qualifying for the T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka had a successful tour of South Africa recently, where they won the T20I series 2-1 and drew the ODIs 1-1. They are also due to tour Ireland in August.

The last time West Indies and Sri Lanka met in a bilateral series was in 2017. West Indies thumped Sri Lanka in the ODI and T20I series on that occasion. In fact, West Indies have an 18-4 win-loss record in T20Is against the Island Nation, while in the ODIs, it stands at 18-14.

The ODIs will be played from June 15-21 in Galle and will be part of the ICC Women's Championship, which is the pathway to the ODI World Cup 2025. West Indies are currently seventh on the points table, while Sri Lanka are one spot below them at eighth.

The top four teams, apart from hosts India, secure an automatic qualification for the World Cup.  The action will then shift to Hambantota, where the three T20Is will be played from June 24-28.
