What's the highest successful run-chase at MCG in Tests?

Australia’s 231-run chase against England in 2013 is the highest by any team at the 'G'

India will have to create history if they want to win the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Men in Blue had Australia reduced to 91/6 but Marnus Labuschagne and Australia's lower-order staged a stunning comeback in the final session.

Labuschagne (70) and Pat Cummins (41) first added 57 runs for the seventh wicket before Nathan Lyon (41* off 54) and Scott Boland (10* off 65) put on 55* runs for the final wicket. The two have now batted for 110 deliveries as Australia's lead has gone up to 333, with one wicket still to go.

Mind you, Australia’s 231-run chase against England in 2013 is the highest by any team at the MCG. If India win this game, this will also be their highest chase in SENA Tests. That famous 328-run chase at the Gabba in the decider of the last BGT was India’s highest in SENA.

Earlier on day four, India could only manage to add 11 runs to their overnight score of 358/9 in the first session of day four. Nitish Reddy was the last man to get out, but only after slamming 114 off 189 deliveries. Despite his century, Australia got a first-innings lead of 105 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah and Co. came out all guns blazing in the second innings. The ace paceman knocked over Sam Konstas for 8 before Mohammed Siraj did the same to Usman Khawaja. Labuschagne and Steven Smith then added 37 runs for the third wicket before Bumrah came back and wreaked havoc.

It looked like the visitors would be chasing something around 250, but Australia's lower-order fightback has more or less eliminated India's win. The last four partnerships have already produced 137 runs for Australia.
