When Will India Announce Squad For Test Series Against West Indies?

The West Indies announced their squad a few days ago

India and West Indies are set to clash in a two-match Test series from October 2, which indicates the beginning of the hosts' home season. West Indies announced their squad a few days ago, but India are yet to make the announcement. According to reports, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel will announce the squad on either September 23 or 24.

This will also mark the first home series since Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's retirement. Some of the key players in focus during the selection are Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah.

The selectors will depend on the assessment of the BCCI medical staff to determine if Pant, who fractured his toe during the England Tests, will be fit enough to play the series.

Bumrah, on the other hand, is expected to be rested to manage his workload. He is currently part of India's Asia Cup 2025 squad as well, and also played three Tests in England before the tournament.

As far as Iyer is concerned, he failed to capitalise on his chances against Australia A, scoring just eight in his only outing. The India A skipper also did not fare well in the Duleep Trophy, scoring just 25 and 12 in the two innings. He last played a Test for India in February 2024, but has been a prolific run-scorer in white-ball cricket.

After the West Indies series, India will also play a couple of Tests against South Africa at home, starting November 14.
