The Indian broadcast rights for all cricket in England are with Sony Sports Network, but even after that, the India tour of England 2024-25 will not be live-streamed on Sony LIV, the network’s streaming platform, according to several media reports.
JioHotstar, which is the biggest media conglomerate in India, seem to have struck a deal with Sony’s parent company, Culver Max Entertainment Private Limited, and have got the sublicense for the digital rights and will live stream the five-match Test series, starting June 20 in Headingley, Leeds.
"JioHotstar has bagged the exclusive digital rights for the upcoming series between England and India. Negotiations between the networks have been underway for the past month, and an agreement is believed to have been reached in the last 24 hours," Cricbuzz wrote on its website on May 26 (Monday).
However, the TV rights to the tour still remain with the Sony Sports Network. They secured an eight-year deal with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) from 2024 to 2031.
“India are to play three ODIs and five Twenty20 Internationals in England in the summer of 2026 and JioStar will broadcast those eight games as well,” Cricbuzz further wrote, meaning that this is not just one tour deal.
