How many ducks were recorded in IPL 2020 and how many were golden ducks? – Sudhir Kumar on Facebook

In the 2020 edition of IPL, 70 ducks were recorded by 52 batsmen, with Delhi Capitals' Shikhar Dhawan doing so on 4 occasions. He is followed by fellow opener Prithvi Shaw and KKR’s Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik – with three ducks each. For the record, the batsman facing most balls and without a duck in IPL 2020 was KXIP captain KL Rahul (518 balls), followed three other captains – DC’s Shreyas Iyer (421), SRH’s David Warner (407), RCB’s Virat Kohli (384). Devdutt Padikkal (379) is the next on this list

The IPL 2020 saw in all 27 instances by 24 batsmen of being dismissed off the first ball (ie golden duck), with KKR’s Nitish Rana being dismissed off the first ball on three occasions, while KXIP’s Mandeep Singh doing so on two occasions. That dubious honour goes to – RR’s David Miller against CSK art Sharjah on 22 Sep 2020 and fellow countryman DC’s Kagiso Rabada against MI during the final at Dubai on 10 Nov 2020.

Two Delhi Capitals batsmen had the misfortune of being dismissed off the first ball of the match – Prithvi Shaw against RR at Dubai on 14 Oct 2020 and Marcus Stoinis against MI in the final match at Dubai on 10 Nov 2020.

MI’s Trent Boult had the distinction of claiming most batsmen for ducks as seven batsmen fell victim to the Kiwi bowler before they could open their account. The next best bowler was CSK’s Deepak Chahar, who claimed four duck victim. Meanwhile, RR’s Jofra Archer has the honour of claiming three batsmen (Prithvi Shaw, Mandeep Singh & Nitish Rana) for golden ducks in IPL 2020, while fellow teammate Rahul Tewatia (Ruturaj Gaikwad & Dinesh Karthik) and SRH’s Sandeep Sharma (Faf du Plessis & Shikhar Dhawan) had claimed two batsmen each off the first ball! Incidentally, Tewatia had also dismissed KKR’s Sunil Narine for a second ball duck!

Note: All three Archer’s duck victims were dismissed first ball (Golden duck)
