Who Is Aaryavir Sehwag, The Son Of Virender Sehwag, Selected In Delhi Premier League 2025?
Sehwag’s elder son has already represented Delhi in age-group cricket
The 2025 season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) features some well-known cricketing surnames from Delhi, reflecting that the next generation of India’s cricketing superstars from Delhi are ready to carry the legacy of their family forward in Delhi and Indian cricket.
One such name is Aaryavir Sehwag, the elder son of former Indian opener Virender Sehwag. Aaryavir, born in 2007, is a right-handed opening batter just like his father and has already represented Delhi in age-group competitions organised by the BCCI and is part of their Under-19 squad as well.
He really shone for Delhi in the Vinoo Mankad and Cooch Behar Trophies, scoring 297 off just 309 deliveries against Meghalaya in the latter. In that innings, he showed his power game and ended up scoring 51 fours and three sixes. That was the highest individual score in that particular edition of the Cooch Behar Trophy.
Father Sehwag later reacted to that and said that had he scored 23 runs more and gone past his highest Test score of 319, he would have gifted him a Ferrari.
That brought him to the attention of DPL scouts, where his father is the tournament brand ambassador. It showed that he has a high ceiling, and once given the right guidance, his game can reach the next level.
Subsequently, he entered the DPL 2025 auction and was picked by Central Delhi Kings for INR 8 Lakh. You can expect to see him opening the innings for Central Delhi Kings this season, and the expectations would be high from him, not just because of his name, but because of the performances that have led him to this stage.
Sehwag certainly has high hopes for his son Aaryavir, as he aims for him to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) soon, and then strive to represent India one day by performing at that stage.
