Bharti Fulmali was brought into the Gujarat Giants (GG) playing 11 for their Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on February 25 (Tuesday) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
She was playing only her first game of the season and made sure that she capitalised on even the slightest of chances she got to showcase her talent.
Fulmali, who is a big fan of West Indies batter Shimron Hetmyer, scored an unbeaten 40 off 29 balls as she smashed two sixes and four fours in her knock and was instrumental in taking her team over 120. She added 51 with Tanuja Kanwer, which is now the highest seventh-wicket stand in WPL history.
Fulmali was on a roll with the bat as she was able to hit left-arm spinner Jess Jonassen inside out for fours. Minnu Mani, another spinner, was also on her radar as she went after the spinners.
Fulmali, who plays for Vidarbha in domestic cricket, has already debuted for India. She has played two T20Is so far, both of which came against England in 2019.
The 30-year-old has played only four games in the WPL after she was first drafted into the league as Harleen Deol’s replacement in WPL 2024. However, she has an average of 52, which is the second-highest for any batter in WPL history after Ellyse Perry (MIN: 100 runs).
