The Pahalgam terror attack wounds hadn’t even healed yet, as Bangladesh retaliated to India’s trade restrictions and imposed restrictions of its own against India. That was followed by heated exchanges between the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) and the Border Security Forces (BSF) of India.
In all these situations, it is likely that India’s tour of Bangladesh, which is scheduled to be held in September, might not happen at all.
"The tour is part of the calendar, but nothing is final yet. There is a bright possibility of India not touring Bangladesh for the ODIs and T20Is because of the current situation," The Times of India quoted a source close to the developments.
The Asia Cup 2025, which is supposed to be played at a neutral venue, looks unlikely to take place in the current situation as India and Pakistan playing each other is a big no-no.
With the added animosity between India and Bangladesh because of the former hosting the exiled former Prime Minister of the latter, Sheikh Hasina, it has become even more difficult.
India are the defending champions, having won the tournament in 2023.
