Will be difficult for Rishabh Pant to get a place inT20Is moving forward: Wasim Jaffer

India's wicketkeeper-batter has scored 29, 5, 6 and 17 in the four T20Is against South Africa so far

Former India batter Wasim Jaffer believes it will be difficult for Rishabh Pant to get into the T20 International (T20I) side with the imminent return of some of the big guns like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Jaffer also believes Dinesh Karthik should be a certainty in India's T20I sides. Karthik, who scored a match-winning 55 against the Proteas in the fourth T20I, has carried his excellent IPL form in the series so far.

"I think if you select the next T20 team, then DK stays in the XI without a doubt. KL Rahul comes back as and when he is fit, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, I think those 3-4 guys walk into the side. So, I feel Rishabh Pant will find it hard to get a place in that XI," Jaffer said on ESPNcricinfo.

"I think DK has overlapped Rishabh Pant at least at the moment. I can't say about the future, but at the moment you would pick DK any time in front of Rishabh Pant," he said.

Pant, who is leading India in the home T20Is against South Africa, started the series off with a quick-fire 16-ball 29 in Delhi, but since then has registered scores of 5, 6 and 17 in the next three matches.

The five-match series is level at 2-2 and the decider is set to be played in Bengaluru later today (June 19).
