Will Family Members Be Allowed To Travel With Team During IPL 2025? BCCI Lays Down Rules

The mandate also states that the players' fitness tests must not be conducted on the main square during matchdays

With the BCCI imposing restrictions on family members travelling with the team during India tours, they have also devised certain rules that prohibit them from being around the players during the Indian Premier League (IPL). Moreover, the BCCI has also made it compulsory for players to travel by team bus.

The BCCI communicated this to the team managers over a Zoom call on February 18, which Cricbuzz has accessed. An email informing the franchises has also been sent.

"Players to use the team bus while coming for practice. Teams may travel in two batches (sic)," the email said.

"On practice days [during pre-tournament & tournament], only accredited staff is allowed in the dressing room and on the field of play.

"Player family members and friends may travel in a different vehicle and can watch team practice from the hospitality area. For extended support staff [throw down specialist/net bowlers] list need to be submitted for approval to the BCCI. Once approved, non-match day accreditations will be issued for the same," the mail further added.

The mandate also states that the players' fitness tests must not be conducted on the main square during matchdays, which used to be the norm. Also, the players should wear Orange and Purple caps for at least two overs, and no sleeveless jerseys will be permitted during post-match presentations.

Additionally, floppies round hats will also not be allowed. If anyone fails to adhere to it, a warning will be issued for the first instance. There will be a financial penalty for the consequent offences.

The BCCI intends to hold a captains' meeting on March 20 in Mumbai to explain all these rules and regulations. Usually, this meeting is held in the host city of the inaugural match, which is not the case this time around. The IPL 2025 will kick off on March 22 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
