India will be without their star wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant on July 11 (Friday), as he continues his recovery from a finger injury. Pant injured his finger on day one, when he was struck trying to save a wayward delivery from Jasprit Bumrah.
The incident happened in the 34th over of the Lord's Test, and the ball swung extra after it passed Ollie Pope, as Pant put on a full-length dive to save that ball. After that incident, Pant walked back immediately to the Lord’s dressing room, as Dhruv Jurel replaced him as a substitute.
“Rishabh Pant is still recovering from the hit on his left index finger. The BCCI medical team continues to monitor his progress. Dhruv Jurel will continue to keep wickets on Day 2,” BCCI said in a statement.
Jurel will continue to be India’s wicketkeeper on day two, and there’s no update on whether Pant will return to bat during India’s first innings.
