Will Senior Players Feature In India A Games Before England Tests?

India A will play three four-day games against England Lions before the main series gets underway

Some of the players who will be part of the Indian squad for the five-match Test series in England, starting on June 20, want to feature in at least one game of the preceding India A vs England Lions series, the Times of India reported on May 5 (Monday).

India A will play three four-day games against England Lions before the main series gets underway. The squads are yet to be announced, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have already started making travel arrangements and have also informed the players.

The India A players who won’t be featuring in the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will leave for England early, while the rest will join them once the tournament is over on May 25.

Meanwhile, the players who will feature in the five-match Test series are likely to travel to England in the first week of June.

The Men in Blue will also play an intra-squad game before the series, but some of the players want to test themselves in one of the unofficial Tests.

Considering these players will travel in the first week of June, and they would also want some rest before the big series, it’s highly likely that most of these players will feature in the second game against England Lions.

The TOI also reported that “the Indian cricket board wants to ensure that the players are well rested and recovered after a gruelling season of the IPL.”

Rohit Sharma and Co. were whitewashed 3-0 by New Zealand at home and then went on to lose the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) in Australia after 10 years.
