NEWSGoing into the 2021 T20 World Cup, Bangladesh were flying high, with series wins over both Australia and New Zealand. However, they were handed a reality check in the multi-team global event, with a win-less exit in the Super12 stage of the competition.
On the back of that exit, it was going to be a rebuild for the Tigers, with their series against Pakistan. However, Pakistan left no stone unturned, putting on a show, winning the series 3-0. In the post-match presentation, Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah insisted that it would take some time for them to make a balanced team in the shortest format.
"Of course, there were many new faces. Saif made debut. Today Shohidul played his maiden T20 match. He bowled very well. It was a great opportunity for young boys to prove them. It will take some time to make a balanced team because T20 format is not easy especially for young players. I hope they will learn it and perform well," Mamudullah pointed out.
The all-rounder also pointed that there was a massive improvement in terms of the pitch on offer from the series against New Zealand and Australia, where it was heavily criticised.
"Wicket was pretty good in this series compared to the last home series against Australia and New Zealand," he said.
"Actually if we had won one or two matches, the confidence level of the team would have been better. Our dressing room was cheerful during the Australia and New Zealand series. Players feel bad when the team loses. I think all the players tried hard and gave their best. Unfortunately the result did not come our way," he added.
