Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson heaped praise on Rahul Tripathi, Priyam Garg and Bhuvneshwar Kumar following their thrilling 3-run win over Mumbai Indians on Tuesday.
Tripathi (76 off 44) and Garg (42 off 26) added 78 for the second wicket which laid the foundation for SRH's total of 193/6 in 20 overs.
Williamson said that the attitude of Tripathi sets him up for big things in the future.
"He's a seriously special player and he comes out and takes that momentum away and that's his attitude every time he bats. We've seen that on a number of occasions throughout this competition. He's certainly destined for big things I reckon," Williamson said in the post-match presentation.
The New Zealander was relieved that his team was able to snap their five-match losing streak and stay in contention for the playoffs. In a high-scoring encounter, SRH saw the match running away from them when Tim David smashed T. Natarajan's 18th over for 26 runs. However, the run-out of David in the over's final ball turned the match in SRH's favor.
"Nice to break (the losing streak). We had a few games there where momentum certainly wasn't on our side and we couldn't wrestle it back. This game ebbed and flowed and we won a few key moments to get across the line. I'm sure you've touched on a number of outstanding contributions today but all in all, I think a really good performance and a lot of learnings come from it," Williamson said.
Garg, who was promoted to the opening role, played a fluent innings which allowed Nicholas Pooran to score a quickfire 38 off 22 balls.
"He's a seriously talented cricketer. Great that he can have that opportunity today and he's one of those players that I think we're going to see a lot more of. He's got a really good head on his shoulders, captained his Under-19 year. A lot of potential but a lot of skill as well," he said of the youngster.
Bhuvneshwar was once again crucial when bowled a maiden wicket in the penultimate over as Fazalhaq Farooqi defended 19 off the final over.
"Our death bowling has been a real strength of ours and Bhuvi has been one of the top death bowlers of the competition. Bhuvi has been incredible and at his best in every match to be fair and really led our attack which is really important throughout a season. His contribution today, and to bowl a maiden, is an amazing contribution and a match-winning moment really," he said.
MI skipper Rohit Sharma credited SRH bowlers for holding their nerve at the end.
"Till about the second to last over, I thought we had it. Unfortunate runout of Tim David but we thought we were very much in the game till that runout. Even 19 runs to go with two overs, you would back yourself to get that but unfortunately we couldn't do it. Credit to Sunrisers for holding their nerve," he said.
Rohit said that the team will look to give more opportunities to reserve players in their final league match against Delhi Capitals.
"We just want to tick off the boxes, finish off on a high note if possible. If there is an opportunity to try out some more guys, we will look to do that too," he said.
