Windies to recruit new Head Coach for Women’s team

After a performance review, the board has decided not to renew the contracts of Courtney Walsh and the technical coaches

Cricket West Indies (CWI) will not renew the contract of Head Coach, Courtney Walsh and his technical Assistant Coaches Robert Samuels and Corey Collymore following a review process of the performance of the Senior women's team, the board announced on Wednesday, April 12.

During Walsh's tenure with the team starting in October 2020, Windies reached the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup last year held in New Zealand and also recorded Home and Away series wins against Pakistan.

In a press release, CWI Director of Cricket Jimmy Adams said “We are very grateful for the contribution of Courtney and his technical team over the past two and a half years and we wish them all the best going forward."

"CWI remains committed to our international women's programme and will now be focusing on recruiting a new Head Coach and technical support team. An interim technical support team will be put in place during the recruitment period," he further added. Windies to recruit new Head Coach for Women’s team

The board will start the recruitment process shortly and aims to hire the best possible coaches in their bid to improve the performance of the team in the coming years.
