Women’s ODI World Cup: India To Play Pakistan In Colombo On October 5

Although India are hosting the World Cup, Pakistan will play all their matches in Colombo

The Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 will commence on September 30, with India facing Sri Lanka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

The Women in Blue will take on Pakistan in Colombo on October 5 and will return to Bengaluru on October 26 for the last league match against Bangladesh.

India will play three back-to-back big games against South Africa, Australia, and England on October 9, 12, and 19, respectively.

Meanwhile, defending champions Australia will begin their campaign against New Zealand in Indore on October 1. They are set to play their arch-rivals, England, at the same venue on October 22. England are scheduled to play South Africa, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand on October 3, 11, and 26, respectively.

Although India are hosting the World Cup, Pakistan will play all their matches in Colombo. This arrangement stems from the 2025 Champions Trophy, during which India played all their matches in Dubai despite Pakistan being the host. It was then decided that Pakistan would also not travel to India for ICC tournaments and play all their games at a neutral venue.

Colombo will host at least 11 games in the World Cup, two more if Pakistan qualify for the semi-final and final. Apart from Pakistan playing seven games, Sri Lanka will also play five games in Colombo, including the one against the Women in Green.

A total of 28 league games will be played, followed by three knockout matches. All eight teams will play against each other, with Bengaluru, Indore, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Colombo serving as the host venues.

The first semi-final will be held on October 29 in Guwahati or Colombo, depending on whether Pakistan qualify. The second semi-final (October 30) and the final (November 2) will take place in Bengaluru - unless Pakistan reach the final, in which case Colombo will host the grand finale.
