Women's T20WC 2026 Schedule Revealed: India-Pakistan In Same Group Again
England will face Sri Lanka in the opening clash in Edgbaston on June 12
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup to be played in England. The hosts will face Sri Lanka in the opening clash at Edgbaston on June 12.
The biggest news, like almost every other ICC schedule release, has been the fact that India and Pakistan teams are yet again put in the same Group 1. The other teams in their group are Australia and South Africa. Two more teams will be added after the Qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Group 2 also has six teams with West Indies, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and the two teams from the Qualifiers.
The 12-team tournament will run for 24 days, with games happening across the length and breadth of England. The semi-final and final will both be played in London, at The Oval and Lord’s cricket ground, respectively.
England captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt, said that she can’t wait to play a World Cup in front of the home crowd, and the opportunity certainly feels different to her.
“World Cups are always special, but this one already feels different — it has the potential to be truly game-changing. It’s going to be a huge moment for our sport and a brilliant opportunity to inspire young people and captivate fans across the country,” Sciver-Brunt said.
“Playing on home soil, for the biggest prize, against the best players in the world, it’s going to be unmissable. I can’t wait to be a part of it. The tournament will not only give fans across the nation a chance to see world-famous cricketers in action but will also affect lasting change by inspiring countless women and girls across the country to get involved with cricket.”
