The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, on October 12 (Saturday), approved the inclusion of Heather Graham as the replacement for Tayla Vlaeminck in the Australian squad. Vlaeminck had earlier dislocated her shoulder while bowling in a match against Pakistan on October 11.
As a result, Vlaeminck will now miss the remainder of the World Cup. Graham, who has played five T20Is for the senior national side, could be picked for Australia’s match against India on October 13, which is also their last group-stage encounter.
Vlaeminck was not the only problem for the Aussies, who have won their last three matches quite comfortably and look all set to qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament.
They might miss their skipper, Alyssa Healy, in the final game as she had to retire mid-way while batting against Pakistan in the team’s last game. The 34-year-old had injured her right foot while taking a run during her breezy knock of 23-ball 37.
Australia’s updated squad: Alyssa Healy (c), Darcie Brown, Ash Gardner, Kim Garth, Heather Graham, Grace Harris, Alana King, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath (vc), Sophie Molineux, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Wareham
