India and South Africa clash in the Women's World Cup final on November 2 (Sunday) in Navi Mumbai. Regardless of the result, a first-time World Cup winner will be crowned. However, the rains could add further drama to the match.
According to the latest forecast, there is a 5-10% chance of rain during the match. It could be another stop-start sort of a day, and the temperatures will drop from 32°C at the start to 26°C by the end of the game, much to the player's relief
However, what happens if the game on Sunday is washed out? If that happens, the ICC has a reserve day in place for November 3 (Monday), and the match will resume from the same point.
For it to constitute a match, both teams will have to play at least 20 overs each. However, if the reserve day is also washed out, both India and South Africa will be declared joint-winners, which will be a first in World Cup history.
In the group stage, South Africa finished third with 10 points, while India just squeezed into the top four with seven points.
The Proteas Women cruised past England in the semi-final by 125 runs, while it took a record run-chase from India to brush defending champions Australia away and book their place in the final.
