In what could be a cause for concern, star batter KL Rahul has given India an injury scare ahead of the country’s two-match Test assignment against the West Indies, on September 25 (Thursday). The right-handed batter opened in the second unofficial Test against Australia A alongside wicketkeeper-batter Narayan Jagadeesan.
Both Jagadeesan and Rahul looked in fine touch, with the former scoring another stroke-filled 36, as the two shared an 85-run partnership at the top of the order in India A’s run chase of 412. However, Rahul continued his amazing form to post another half-century before walking off the crease when he was on 74 off 92 balls, including nine boundaries.
According to Sportstar, Rahul walked off the field with the physio, with various other publications reporting that the Indian batter walked off because of ‘high fever’. Rahul has been a vital cog of the Indian red-ball setup over the last year, with the right-hander having a stellar series in both Australia and England, off late.
It is yet to be seen whether the batter recovers in time for India’s first Test against the West Indies, which kicks off on October 2 (Thursday).
