India batter Rohit Sharma brought up one of his slowest One-Day International (ODI) fifties. During the second ODI against Australia in Adelaide, Rohit got to the landmark off 74 deliveries, his worst since 2015.
Rohit made a scratchy start to his innings. His first 11 deliveries fetched just two runs, before a flick off Mitchell Starc fetched him a boundary. However, his innings came to an end for 73 off 97 deliveries, giving Starc his first wicket.
In 2015, Rohit brought up his half-century off 70 deliveries against Bangladesh in the 2015 World Cup quarter-final. He went on to score 137 off just 126, but on this occasion, he failed to convert this into a big one.
However, after he reached a half-century, he scored 23 runs at a strike rate of 100, before holing out at deep backward square leg. What's more interesting is Rohit has scored 19 50+ scores since 2022, and this is only the second one where he reached the mark at a strike rate under 100.
In the Adelaide ODI, the former India captain put on 118 off 136 for the third wicket with Shreyas Iyer, after India were reduced to 17/2. Australia lead the three-match series 1-0, thanks to their seven-wicket victory in the first ODI in Perth.
