Since his debut in July 2023, Yashasvi Jaiswal has risen the ladder to become an integral part of India’s red-ball setup, with 2,511 runs, averaging a staggering 49.23 in the format, with hundreds across countries.
The left-hander has smashed seven hundreds and has racked up 13 fifties in just 53 innings to underline his impact in the longest format of the sport. Away from the red-ball format too, the left-hander has taken opportunities with both hands across white-ball formats, with a stellar unbeaten 116 in the third ODI against South Africa in Visakhapatnam.
Jaiswal might be just 23, but the youngster has already openly declared his captaincy ambitions, stating that he would like to ‘lead India’ one day.
“Yes, if I get a chance, I would like to lead India,” Jaiswal said during the ‘Agenda Aaj Tak’ conclave, reported The Indian Express.
Jaiswal also opened up on his relationship with Rohit, revealing that he scolds the team only because of love and care.
“Every time Rohit bhai scolds us, it has a lot of love and indulgence mixed with it. In fact, if Rohit bhai isn’t scolding you, there is a sense of unease as to what happened, why isn’t he scolding? Has he felt bad about my action?” Jaiswal added.
