WPL 2024 set to be played across two cities, starting February 23

The first match of the tournament will see last year's finalists, Mumbai Indians go toe-to-toe with Delhi Capitals

The second edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) will begin from February 23, 2024 according to a report on Cricbuzz. The five-team tournament, which will consist of 22 matches, will be played in Bengaluru and Delhi, with the former hosting the initial games. The first match of the competition will see last year's finalists, Mumbai Indians (MI), go toe-to-toe with Delhi Capitals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

There will be no double-headers this time, but a few teams will play matches on back-to-back days. All matches will be played from 7.30 PM onwards.

Bengaluru will host the first 11 matches of the tournament until March 4, and the action will shift to Delhi from there on for the remainder of the tournament. The final will be played in Delhi on March 17, two days after the Eliminator, and it will also be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The BCCI initially pondered the idea of having a home-away system in the WPL, just like they have in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but decided against it due to some logistical issues.

The Delhi leg of the tournament will commence on March 5, with DC and MI kickstarting things in the national capital as well.
