Delhi Capitals continued their winning run, becoming the first team to qualify for the knockouts of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025, with a win against hosts Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 1 (Saturday). DC started the match knowing that a win in Bengaluru would make them the first team to qualify for the next stage.
Meg Lanning did not hesitate one bit, opting to chase on a venue that supported teams batting second. However, for RCB, they couldn’t put a lot of runs on the board (147/5) and needed yet another single-handed contribution from the Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry, who smashed a 47-ball 60.
While Renuka Singh Thakur struck up front to remove Lanning (2), the stellar second-wicket partnership between Jess Jonassen (61) and Shafali Verma (80) was enough to take them over the line in convincing fashion, as Delhi won by nine wickets, with almost five overs to spare.

DC’s win kept them at the top of the table with ten points. Meanwhile, RCB’s fourth consecutive loss at the venue meant that they slid down further, entering a realm of danger with a net run rate of -0.244.
