Out of the blue, New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr pulled off one of the greatest catches of WPL 2025 to send back DC’s batter Jemimah Rodrigues in the final on March 15 (Saturday). Off her own bowling, the Kiwi bowler jumped right in front to remove the dangerous-looking Rodrigues.
The Indian batter had already connected well in that over prior to the dismissal, with two boundaries coming in the 11th. But then, in an attempt to flick the ball, Rodrigues could only get an edge, which for the longest time looked like it was going to die on Kerr.
However, the amazing fielder that Kerr is, timed her run perfectly and made an inch-perfect jump to hold on to the catch, stunning Rodrigues and her entire team. It was Kerr who had the last laugh as she got the most important wicket of the night for the 2023 WPL champions.
Kerr ended her spell with 2/25, making the biggest contribution, after she removed Jess Jonassen earlier in the night.
