Mumbai Indians (MI) lost star all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, the franchise announced on February 13 (Thursday). This comes as a huge blow to the champions of the inaugural edition of the tournament, as they will now have to depend upon a totally new face to deliver what Pooja did with both bat and ball.
Under-19 star Parunika Sisodia has been drafted as a replacement for Vastrakar. Sisodia was picked by Gujarat Giants (GG) earlier during the inaugural edition in 2023. The left-arm spinner will join MI at a price of INR 10 Lakh.
Not only MI, but even the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), also faced a big blow as one of their star bowlers from the last season, Asha Sobhana, was ruled out as well. They replaced her with the experienced Nuzhat Parween.
A wicketkeeper from domestic giants Railways, Parween has represented India in 5 T20Is and will join RCB for her base price of INR 30 lakh.
RCB get their campaign underway on February 14 (Friday) against the Giants, while MI take on DC the following day.
