WPL 2025: MI Set To Face GG In Eliminator; DC Qualify For Final

RCB spoiled MI’s plans of finishing at the top of the table in the season and playing the final directly by defeating them by 11 runs in the last group game

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 11 runs in the last group stage game of the 2025 season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). This prevented MI from reaching the top of the points table and playing the final directly.

MI ended in the second spot on the table with 10 points in eight games, the same as table topper Delhi Capitals (DC), but DC had a better net run rate as Meg Lanning’s team qualified for the final directly third time in a row. They will now await the result of the Eliminator, which will be played between MI and Gujarat Giants, who finished third in the season with eight points in eight games.

The Eliminator is scheduled for March 13, and the final will be played on March 15.

DC have reached the final in the last two seasons but have had to console themselves by just being the runner-ups. However, they finally hope to be lucky for the third time, as Lanning would love to break the hoodoo of the final.

Meanwhile, RCB finished fourth in the five-team competition with just three wins in eight games. A better run rate than UP Warriorz and a win against MI helped them avoid the last spot this season.

RCB had begun and ended their season on a high, but failed to win some close encounters in the middle of the competition, with one of their losses coming against UPW in a super over in Bengaluru.
