DON’T SAY IT.Â
DON’T….Â
It is a Super Over. With UP Warriorz needing one run off the final ball, Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Richa Ghosh did an MS Dhoni, running out Sophie Ecclestone at the striker’s end on February 24 between RCB and UPW. In terms of finishes, there aren’t too many last-ball finishes that the Women’s Premier League has seen.Â
But even if there were, there were none to top this. Warriorz were not even close in the run chase, with them needing 18 runs off the last over. Renuka Singh Thakur was the bowler with Ecclestone on strike.Â
Over the next four deliveries, the English all-rounder turned the tide around with some swashbuckling display, smashing six, six and four off 19.2, 19.3 and 19.4 to send the crowd into a frenzy and give the Warriorz a chance to send the game to super over.Â
What a game! After a brilliant last-over effort from Ecclestone, Renuka Singh kept her cool, taking us to the first Super Over of WPL!#WPLOnJioStar 👉 Royal Challengers Bengaluru v UP Warriorz | LIVE NOW on Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 Hindi & Sports 18 Khel pic.twitter.com/xAGAdScuZz

As it turned out, with one needed off the last ball, Kranti Goud couldn’t get any connection as Richa Ghosh, in the most memorable fashions, ran out Ecclestone as the game ended on level. It was the first-ever super over in WPL history, as the two teams went into the record books.
