Smriti Mandhana and Danni Wyatt-Hodge lit up the Baroda Cricket Association Stadium in Vadodara as they became the first batting pair to notch up a 100-run partnership against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
After cleaning up the powerful DC batting for just 141, Mandhana especially looked in supreme touch with the bat and played sumptuous shots on the off-side as usual, with an inside-out six really standing out for its incredible aesthetic value. She scored 81 off just 47 deliveries with 10 fours and three big sixes.
Meanwhile, Wyatt-Hodge was slow to start with but came into her own with some lofted shots on the off-side and played a good hand of 42 off just 33 deliveries. The duo put up 107 runs on the board in just 10.5 overs, which left only 35 runs for the remaining batters in the chase.
Richa Ghosh smashed a six to finish the innings the chase in style, and RCB won their second game in a row with 8 wickets.
Notably, the second-best partnership against DC, one of the strongest bowling lineups in the WPL, is 26 runs less than the 107 runs added by the RCB openers today. Mandhana’s 81 was also her second-highest score in India in the WT20s and her highest in the WPL.
RCB are at the top of the WPL 2025 points table with two wins in two games.
