The M Chinnaswamy stadium was absolutely buzzing with excitement as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru arrived to play their first game of the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season at their home ground.
The tickets for the game have been sold out on the official ticketing platform for a few days now, and fans had already lined up outside the stadium three hours before the game to make their seats in time for the toss and the first glimpse of skipper Smriti Mandhana, who led the RCB franchise to their first-ever trophy last year.
The crowd was so loud when Mandhana was called to speak right after losing the toss that she had to wait for a few seconds before answering Charles Dagnall’s, who himself let the crowd’s roar calm down before beginning his questions.
“It's good to be back and have this sort of welcome. I think it's massive for the team to have fans around, it only motivates us. Whatever we do, we do for them,” an overwhelmed-looking Mandhana told Dagnall.
“All the girls are really proud, we have done well in the last two games but we know Cricket is a game where we start from zero and we are charged up.”
The RCB have won both their games so far and are at the top of the points table.
