Yastika Bhatia Registers Embarrassing Record After Yet Another WPL Failure

Yastika registered the slowest duck in WPL history against UPW, continuing her bad tournament with the bat

Yastika Bhatia’s 2025 season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) began on a poor note, with only 11(9) in the first game against the Delhi Capitals. Since then, she has had scores of 8(10), 8(8) and now 0(8) against UP Warriorz, which is the slowest-ever duck scored in the history of the three-year-old league.

Bhatia, who has been out of the Indian team due to injury problems, is having a tough season. She played eight deliveries on the day but failed to score a single run.  She first played four dot balls in the first over of Chinelle Henry as she failed to clear the infield and kept nudging and pushing the ball to the fielders as the West Indian pacer bowled full but tight lines.

She played two more dot balls in the third over of the innings, also bowled by Henry, and on this occasion failed to get the shorter deliveries to the boundary and was only able to reach the other end through a leg bye. At the other end, Hayley Matthews failed to score against Sophie Ecclestone too, and Mumbai Indians were 6/0 after three overs of the powerplay.

Bhatia defended the first ball of Deepti Sharma’s next over too. Deepti, the smart bowler she is, could sense the pressure building on Yastika, and bowled the next one short. Yastika swivelled to pull it but failed to get the desired connection, as Kranti Goud caught her out in the deep square leg region.

After an innocuous first half of the season, Yastika would really hope she has a good second half because her India selection might be based on her performances in the WPL.
