WPL 2026 Auction SHOCK As Alyssa Healy, First Name In Marquee List, Goes UNSOLD
She was UP Warriorz designated captain before getting injured
The 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction in New Delhi got off to the most shocking start imaginable as Australia captain Alyssa Healy, who was the first name in the marquee list, went unsold. Healy missed the 2025 edition of WPL due to a foot injury but was the designated captain of the UP Warriorz. She got released by the franchise and entered the auction with a base price of 50 lakh.
Healy was expected to be one of the most expensive purchases but shockingly enough, the Australia skipper went unsold as not a single franchise bid for her. That being said, it’s almost certain that she will get sold in the accelerated auction. Still, Healy going unsold at 50 lakh was something not many saw coming, particularly with her name coming first in the marquee list.
The 35-year-old, overall, has played 17 WPL matches in her career and has scored 428 runs at an average of 26.75 and strike rate of 130.49.
Moments later, New Zealand’s Sophie Devine became the first player to be sold in the WPL 2026 mega auction. The released Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all-rounder was snapped up by Gujarat Giants (GG) for INR 2 crore.
