The South Africa cricket team have sought the services of English legend Stuart Broad to tackle the Australian team in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023-25, which will be played from June 11 at the iconic Lord’s in London.
This will be South Africa’s first ever appearance in a WTC Final and only their third ever appearance in an ICC final, having previously won the ICC Knockout Trophy (now ICC Champions Trophy) in 1998 and finished runners-up in the 2024 T20 World Cup against India.
The Telegraph reported the development in an article saying that Broad will be with the South African team ahead of the match, but he will not be part of their dressing room during the game.
“Broad’s media commitments mean he will not actually be in the South African dressing room for the match itself. But he will work with the team and coaching staff before the match with his remit being to work on specific plans for the Australian batsmen and how to bowl at Lord’s,” the publication wrote.
Broad has been one of the most clutch players against Australia and at Lord’s itself. While he has 153 wickets in 40 Tests against Australia, the 38-year-old has taken 113 Test wickets at Lord’s, second only to James Anderson, who has 116 wickets.
