Danni Wyatt named in England women's squad for India T20s
NEWSEngland announced a 14-player squad for the upcoming T20I series against India beginning on Friday
England head coach Lisa Keightley on Tuesday named a 14-player squad for the three-match T20I series against India with top-order batter Danni Wyatt and off-spinner Mady Villiers returning to the side.
Pacer Kate Cross and opener Lauren Winfield-Hill have missed out on selection which could see Wyatt opening the batting with Tammy Beaumont. Wyatt, who has been in poor form since December 2019, has scored three fifties from five one-day innings in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and a blistering 45 against Central Sparks in the Charlotte Edwards Cup, which earned her an international call-up.
After the one-off Test in Bristol ended in a draw, England have won the ODI series 2-1. Speaking about the team's overall performance, Keightley said: "We've played some good cricket across both the Test and the ODIs and we've named a strong squad for the IT20 series. It's 6-4 in the multi-format series and it's a series we're pushing hard to win.
"We probably weren't quite at our best in the third ODI so I'd like us to hit the ground running in the first IT20 and be ruthless."
The first T20I will be played at Northampton on Friday, with the second match set to be played on July 11 at Hove. Chelmsford will host the third and final T20I on July 14.
England squad: Heather Knight (captain), Tammy Beaumont, Katherine Brunt, Freya Davies, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Tash Farrant, Sarah Glenn, Amy Jones, Nat Sciver, Anya Shrubsole, Mady Villiers, Fran Wilson, Danni Wyatt
