Yash Dhull Continues Resurgence, Hits Ton Against East Zone Side Featuring Shami

Dhull has just enjoyed an outstanding DPL 2025 season

The resurgence of former India U19 skipper Yash Dhull continues as the 22-year-old, today in the Duleep Trophy, hit a swashbuckling ton for North Zone against an East Zone attack led by Mohammed Shami.

Once one of the most hyped youngsters in the country, Dhull struggled for relevance across the last couple of years after a breakout first-class year in 2022 that saw him score 113, 200* & 193 inside his first six innings in red-ball cricket.

He could only average 20 with the bat in 2023, and he also went unsold in the IPL post 2023, after initially being snapped up by Delhi Capitals (DC).

However, Dhull seems to be a man on a mission in this new domestic season. He began the season with a 435-run campaign in the 2025 Delhi Premier League (DPL) — average 87, SR 167 — and now he’s posted a ton in his first red-ball game of the season in the Duleep Trophy.

The right-hander got off to a very good start (39) in the first innings but was unable to kick on. But he ensured to go all the way in the second innings, bringing up his eighth ton in first-class cricket. At the time of writing this, Dhull is batting on 104*, having hit 11 fours and 2 sixes.

This is Dhull’s second ton in the Duleep Trophy. His first also came against East Zone, back in 2022.
